I Hereby Give Myself Permission

I haven’t made an entry for so long. First off, I have been very busy, of course. Opening a “Spinning and Yarn Shop”:http://yarnalong.com does take quite some time. It’s fun work, for sure, but it’s still a lot of hours and a lot of work. Second, I think I have been hung up on the fact that if I do make an entry that I am obliged to catch up on everything that I’ve missed posting about. So, I hereby give myself permission to start fresh again from here on out.

So, what’s on my needles?
– “Wicked,”:http://www.zephyrstyle.com/catalog/item.cfm/2367447/3974522 a great sweater pattern that we happen to carry at the shop, in “Atacama.”:http://yarndex.com/yarn.cfm?yarn_id=2704
I have the body of the sweater done all the way down to the waist band, which I’m doing in the same crossover pattern as the neck band instead of the seed stitch as written. Then all I have left are the sleeves.

– A “Fixation Tank,”:http://cascadeyarns.com/patternsFree/DK121%20Fixation%20Tank.pdf
(pdf) a free pattern, out of “Cascade Fixation”:http://yarndex.com/yarn.cfm?yarn_id=2646 in a blue variegated colorway. I’m only a few inches up from the bottom, it’s a bit of a mindless knit.

– The _As You Like It_ shoulder wrap, out of a GORGEOUS hank of “Schaefer Anne”:http://www.yarndex.com/yarn.cfm?yarn_id=2960 – ooh lala Schaefer!!! If you haven’t seen it, run to your nearest “LYS!”:http://yarnalong.com It’s probably our favorite yarn in the shop! I’m up to 137 stitches wide doing the lacy version which goes up to just over 200 stitches wide at the top. It’s almost a mindless knit, if I weren’t so worried about making a mistake.

– I’ve barely started a Log Cabin baby blanket, using the pattern out of “Mason Dixon Knitting”:http://www.masondixonknitting.com/ in the fabulous I-never-thought-I-might-enjoy-knitting-acrylic-ever-again-but-I-am “Dark Horse Fantasy.”:http://www.darkhorseyarn.com/basicyarn.aspx?category=Fantasy&type=basic
Have you felt this stuff? Wow! I keep thinking that it’d be perfect for baby stuff and chemo hats!

And now I need to cast on some socks. I still have my trekking toes, two-at-once on the ‘loop. I was finally able to bring them out at the shop since our “Trekking XXL”:http://www.yarndex.com/yarn.cfm?yarn_id=2960 finally arrived last week. I have some “Wildfoote”:http://www.brownsheep.com/wls.htm wound up to cast onto dpn’s (it’s been ages), and but I’m aching to try out the new “TOFUtsies”:http://www.soysilk.com/tofutsies.html – such amazing colorways! We have all of them in the shop, even the new ones, making it an even tough choice.

So, what’s on your needles?

  1. Glad you finally announced it. Now you need to do it on Evansville Knitters! Share the news so everyone can delight in your joy. Still trying to make it over there, but with kids out of school it cuts into my free time. And if I brought them I would never get to sit and visit.

  2. Happy the shop is going well!!! Boy, you have many things OTN! I’m a monogamous knitter! I have yet another sock design OTN for my hubby for Father’s Day, almost done! I’m afraid I do have a couple of things OTN, rather put aside because I had others things that popped up, “A Touch of Whimsy” socks being one that has been set aside until after hubby’s bday in Aug, then the 1st version will be up and the 2nd version shortly thereafter! Both are cute, I think!
Oh, you will LOVE knitting with TOFUtsies! There are a couple of the newer colors that can be “manly” that I want to get for socks for my hubby, my last sock design for him were knit with it and it’s a heavenly sock yarn. He enjoys wearing them in this heat, too!
