Half Way Through February 2007

We celebrated our 19th Wedding Anniversay at the end of January.

It was quiet one at home, since I wasn’t in good shape. But we do have a raincheck for a nice, quiet dinner out together, alone, soon.

I have some new FO’s(Finished Objects) to share.
First, for the “Caps for a Cure Yahoo Group”:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/capsforacure/ in honor of my Grammie:

PATTERN: “Striped chemo hat from Elann”:http://www.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=177024
NEEDLES: Denise size 7′s
YARN: “Elann Esprit”:http://www.elann.com/productdisp.asp?NAME=elann%2Ecom+Esprit&Cat=&ProductType=5&Count=1 in Orchid Pink and “Esprit Print”:http://www.elann.com/productdisp.asp?NAME=elann%2Ecom+Esprit+Print&Cat=&ProductType=5&Count=2 in Lilac Medley.
NOTES: This is VERY stretchy yarn and must be knit with at a very loose tension. Odd. Love how the hat came out, though. I think this is a type of hat that I would wear. I truly hope someone gains comfort from it.

I also finished the “A” sweater for my niece:

PATTERN: The “Weasley Sweater pattern”:http://alison.knitsmiths.us/pattern_weasley.html from the “Blue Blog”:http://alison.knitsmiths.us/ who I’ve just read has a book being published in May 2007 with this pattern on the cover!
YARN: Knit Picks “Wool of the Andes”:http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/itemid_5420103/yarn_display the main color is the beautiful Spruce and the letter is done in Fog
NEEDLES: Started on Denise Needles in size 5 and went up to size 7 in my new KnitPicks “Options Needles”:http://www.knitpicks.com/needles/Needles_Options.aspx
NOTES: I adjusted this pattern to my gauge, and c/o78 in the beginning, starting it in the round. Part way up I realized my gauge was much smaller than originally though, so I went up to the size 7 needles. When I got to the letter I split it into a front and back, knitting back and forth instead of in the round. I picked up 96 sts for each of the sleeves

And last, but not least, another “Caps for a Cure”:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/capsforacure/ hat:

PATTERN: Based on this “Spiral Rib”:http://yarnpirate.blogspot.com/2005/10/one-skein-noro-on-budget-spiral-rib.html hat pattern
NEEDLES: size 9 Denise’s
YARN: “Bernat Softee Chunky”:http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=softeechunky&SPP=999 in the _’Circus’_ colorway.
NOTES: I cast-on 72 sts for this hat.

  1. Happy Anniversary! I love the cute sweater. It’s like Alvin’s sweater from Alvin and the Chipmunks!

Have you been spinning too along with all the knitting? I hope you’re still up for Spin-to-Knit :)

    Feel better soon!

  2. Mazel Tov on the anniversary. We share January as our wedding month, but you are a few years ahead of us. I think we celebrated 17 years married and 19 years together, but it’s fuzzy after a while (kind of like a favorite well-worn sweater)
