SP7 Questionnaire

How embarrassing! I typed this up a couple of weeks ago and never took it out of draft status into Live- Sorry SP!

*1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand?*
I prefer natural fibers, but I knit a bit of everything and don’t consider myself a ‘snob’. Well, sort of, but not really.

*2. Do you spin? Crochet?*
I’ve recently purchased a hand spindle and after my first scary attempt I plan to purchase more roving and give it a ‘whirl’ (pun intended). I learned to crochet at a young age but have found myself more caught up in knitting lately.

*3. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?*
My main needles are “Denise needles”:http://www.knitdenise.com (LOVE them) so they have their own case. My straights are in wonderful wine boxes (like hat boxes but narrow and tall) that my sp5 sent, and my circulars are in a small round hat box (love hat boxes, have them for yarn storage, too).

*4. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?*
I just started knitted under a year ago (March of 2005). I guess I’d consider myself an advanced-beginner-almost-intermediate!?!?

*5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?*
Yes, on the sidebar here.

*6. What’s your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)*
Vanilla. I also like cucumber and lemon.

*7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?*
A bit of a sweet tooth, not a major one, but I’m trying to cut back. If I do indulge in candy I usually pick up “Haribo Raspberries.”:http://www.amazon.com/exec/obido My sp5 sent them, I’d never heard of them, and I love them!

*8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?*
The only other craft I really do is Photography.

*9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)*
Various types of music: 80′s, pop, easy listening – a little bit of most every genre appeals to me. I have an ipod (got it free “story here”:http://starzabove.com/article/merry-christmas-to-me—my-ipod-is-here ) and a fairly new computer system that plays any format.

*10. What’s your favorite color? Or–do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can’t stand?*
Green is my favorite color. I tend toward an autmn palette I guess. I really not drawn towards pastels or bright colors at all these days. Deeper, muted tones attract me, I guess I’d have to say.

*11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?*
Happily married (18 years), 5 kids, a dog (who thinks he’s a kid), and a cat (who thinks he owns the place).

*12. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?*
I have found that I enjoy scarves, I never really did before. I wear hats when it’s cold. I received nice gloves for Christmas. No, I’m not really the poncho sort.

*13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?*
I love very soft yarns, natural fibers, medium weight.

*14. What fibers do you absolutely NOT like?*
There aren’t really any that I absolutely do not like, but I hardly touch acrylic yarn anymore – most of it seems so coarse and rough – there are a few types of them out there that I do use, like, and find appropriate for the situation.

*15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?*
Just knitting and yarn in general! I’m really into the Magic Loop and knitting 2 pieces at once on items that have 2 pieces, like socks, mittens, etc.

*16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?*
I’ve really enjoyed aspects of everything I’ve knit so far, but I guess if I had to choose I’d say scarves and socks. I’m really yearning to get into sweater knitting right now, though.

*17. What are you knitting right now?*
A Clapotis, socks, and a shrug.

*18. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?*
LOVE it!

*19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?*
Circular. I LOVE my “Denise Needles”:http://knitdenise.com and am covered in sizes 5 to 15 with them. I do plan on adding a set of size 1, 2 and 4 addi turbos in the 40 inch length (since I already have size 3′s) so that I have sizes 1 to 15 covered. I mostly use circulars, even for small knitting in the round now that I’ve discovered the Magic Loop method (no more dpn’s for me).

*20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?*
Bamboo is my favorite, but I have and use some of each.

*21. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?*
Yes, both.

*22. How did you learn to knit?*
I sort of taught myself, then Mom helped me really figure it out. And I’ve gone to my dear, friend Debbie many times for help.

*23. How old is your oldest UFO?*
Almost a year old – it’s one of the first projects I started – a lapghan/small blanket that I only finished half way (mitered, 4-square pattern).

*24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?*
I guess I’m a cat person, and I sort of relate to Garfield.

*25. What is your favorite holiday?*
Christmas

*26. Is there anything that you collect?*
Tech gadgets. I love my cell phone, pda, iPod, digital camera, etc. and all of their accessories.

*27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?*
Interweave Knits

*28. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on?*
Mabye more roving, to give spinning more of a try. And the aforementioned 40 inch length addi turbos in size 1, 2 and 4.

*29. Are there any new techniques you’d like to learn?*
I’d like to actually finish a sweater, besides a shrug. I’ve started a couple and never finished any, yet.

*30. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?*
Yes, I LOVE wearing and making hand-knitted socks!
My feet are what I consider an average women’s- around size 8 1/2 shoe.

*31. When is your birthday? (mm/dd)*
August 19th.
