Well, the princess’ violin/fiddle should arrive via UPS tomorrow. I can’t tell you how excited she is about it. She just walked by again, playing her ‘air violin’ and crying out ‘Mama! It’ll be here tomorrow!’. Hilarious. But it is fun to see her so excited about something, it’s even contagious. So, the idea of a fiddle brings to my mind an old song by the Charlie Daniel’s Band, “_The Devil went down to Georgia_.”:http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/daniels-charlie/devil-went-down-to-georgia-10926.html Anyone remember it? I had to fire up my trial of the new “Napster”:http://www.napster.com (heck, all the downloads you can download a month for only $14.95, why not? And I KNOW how to get around the whole ‘won’t work on an ipod deal – burnin’ a cd and rippin’ them with windows media is a snap!) and do a search and sure enough, there it is, in all it’s glory. The 2 older girls were quite entertained by my rendition of it in the kitchen, but they were definitely awe-stuck by the actual fiddle-playing in the song. It’s pretty wild. The princess just stared at me wild-eyed. Even more excited, I am sure. This whole scenario led me down a path of other _wild ‘n crazy_ songs that I remember from my childhood. Like “_Mr. Bojangles_”:http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/nitty-gritty-dirt-band/mr-bojangles-10161.html by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and “_Sneaky Snake_”:http://www.lyricsfreak.com/t/tom-t.-hall/138712.html by the one and only Tom T. Hall.
So as I venture down this memory lane of fun, I wonder, what are some _’wild ‘n crazy’_ songs you remember from the past? Please, do share! After all, it’s probably on Napster, LOL.
