INSERT NAME, the sheep dog

p=.

He’s a Great Pyrenees – HUGE – and just a puppy. He’s 8 months old and joined us from the Fidler Farm just outside St. Louis, Missouri. Mom and I went and picked him up yesterday and took him out to his pasture, with the rams. He promptly escaped from near the gate, trying to follow us! We didn’t find out until we went to check on him just after noon today. Thank goodness, he was still just off the edge of the property, in the forest. After a lot of running around, on the hottest day of the year so far, during the hottest part of the day, and meeting a couple more of the neighbors out there, we drove back to the property. We were sitting in the van cooling off, and he sort of just appeared in the tree line in front of us. Silly boy. We were able to lead him back in through the gate, and get him settled into his new home. He’s kind of shy. But he’s a teenager. They say he won’t be done with growing until he’s 2 years old, and he’s already huge! But I’m sure, as soon as he acquaints himself with the sheep, he’ll be a great guard dog.

We’re toying with a few names – like Sam the sheepdog (from the Looney Tunes cartoons – “see here”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Sheepdog_and_Ralph_Wolf ), Falkor after the dog-like “Luck Dragon”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luckdragon on _The Never Ending Story,_ and I just keep calling him Buddy. We’re looking for his personality to come through and show us his name.
