My 2nd skein of handspun yarn goes to Mom

_Lily of the Valley from our front yard._

Mom hasn’t tried the spinning wheel, yet, so I spun up some of the two-colored romney on 2 bobbins, and plied them together for her.

Once again it’s a bulky yarn, but I do love how the colors switched and blended. It came out to be about 120 yards, plied, and I’ll have her weigh it when it dries. She gave it a Eucalan bath and it’s hanging to dry as I type.
Now, we just have to decide what to knit up with it!
I’m considering something entrelac. Any suggestions?

In Knitting progress, here is Angel’s sweater, which is moving slowly, for some reason.

But she encourages me to keep on it so that she might get a chance to wear it before it gets too warm to wear sweaters at all. We did have really warm, summery weather a week or so ago, but it has been more on the cool side lately, especially in the mornings. We’re trying to enjoy it before it gets so hot that all we have to do is complain about it.

And now, shame on me, I cast on for something else. I really shouldn’t have done it. At the very least I should finish something before I cast on for something new. I guess I figured since I finished the socks I could, but it’s almost time to cast on for more socks. So now what do I do? Maybe I shouldn’t allow myself to cast on for the socks until I finish one of the projects I have on the needles? Sure. Nice. I’ll try.

Anyhow, it’s a “Ribbed Eyelet Hat”:http://www.p2designs.com/pdfs/ptn-EyeletRibHat.pdf in some white Bernat Baby Softee. The label says: _100% “Gentle Soft” Acrylic_ and I must agree, since I’m such a yarn snob these days and I’m averted to most acrylic yarns. Bad me. Or good me? It is much more natural, after all, to enjoy natural fibers, in my opinion.
It’s for “a very special baby”:http://kamrynlily.com – I bet you can’t guess who! ;-) I had the pattern already printed out and had purchased this yarn to make it, but I just hadn’t started it. Then Jill (who, incidently is taking knitting classes, yay!) had to go and send me a link to the very same pattern and say how cute she thought it was, and the rest is history.

And so I’ll close for today, with a cute M&M and bunny photo:

Lady Tumnus, as the bunny has been named, is 10 weeks old now, and will be ready to provide us with her first fibers in just a couple of weeks. A sweet, cuddly bunny and gloriously soft fibers to spin and knit up – what a double treat!

  1. The hat pattern is sweet, the jelly bean socks are great, and so is the sock pattern you linked. :^) Spring in your neck of the woods looks beautiful.
