my baby, my boy, er my little man…

Time flies so fast, I wish I could grab hold of it’s reins and just hold on a little tighter. My son, my firstborn, “the boy”, turned 16 years old today. It’s kind of sad, really. He’s not my little kid anymore. He’s not even just a big kid. He’s a little man. A young man. Growing up to be a man. A good man. A kind man. An honorable man with incredible morals and values. I am so proud of him.
We spent the day pretty low key. Did a couple of his favorite things- fishing and eating. I went out with him on the boat for awhile. It was really great. Nice and peaceful. And one of the most amazing things…………..almost poetically ironic…………. _HE_ was teaching _ME_. He caught a whole string of bass – 6 I think. And his ol’ mom (me!) actually caught one, too! I hooked another right after that, but it managed to wriggle free when I almost had it landed – right next to the boat, we even saw it flip up out of the water right before it made it’s great escape. Normally the boy practices catch-and-release, but he’s trying to manage the lake, so there are certain runt large-mouth bass he is trying to clean out of there. He even cleaned them all (something dear ol’ mom here has NO interest in doing – ever!)
It was a nice, peaceful, yet monumental day. Sniff, sniff……….. pardon me………
