Does size matter? for allergy pills, hello!

So I initially was prescribed Claritin (pre-OTC), and my insurance deductible was $50 a month. So, in researching whether this was the best I could do, the pharmacist recommends Allegra, which he says is basically the same deal, just different way of doing it. He contacted my doc, received the okay, and changed me to Allegra, with only a $30 a month deductible. Okay. So, when Claritin became OTC (Over-the-counter), and more comparable in price (vis-a-vis my deductibles) I switched to that again.
Now, just for the fun and excitement of it (just kidding here, folks) I am back to trying Allegra.
If I had a Claritin left, I’d show you a photo of the comparison in size. Claritin comes in a teensy-tinsy lil white tablet shaped pill, whereas Allegra is much bigger, longer, oblong kind of shaped, more like the size of a vitamin. So, do you think size matters here? Or does Allegra perhaps have a bunch of useless, unneccessary fillers?
I’m not sure myself, all I know is that my eyes are still itchy, when I’m taking the Claritin otc, and it’s the beginnings of allergy season, so I’m switching to Allegra, for now, in hopes that I can get total relief.
What’s up with this never having an allergy in my life until now thing? I think mom secretly hoped I was allergic to the South/Midwest and would have to move back to California, ah well. Sorry, mom, you are going to have to move out here :~)
