Baby Kamryn Lily

I am asking for anyone that can/will/chooses – please send up good thoughts/prayers/love for baby Kamryn Lily, who at just under 2 lbs, born almost 3 months early, is suffering from an infection right now. She needs all that she can get, too. So could her mom – my dear Canadian friend, Jill.

I started a baby sweater for her, put ended up putting it aside, temporarily, realizing that she wouldn’t fit it for quite some time, being so tiny! I then made her some socks, trying to reduce the size by stitches/rows/needle size, but they still came out too big for such a doll-baby:

(that’s my thumb in there, again, for size reference)

So I cast on for a tiny, baby hat. It, too, I have discovered is just too big for now! So I’ve put that aside, to be finished next month, to be sent with the sweater and socks – they are all in the same yarn so should go together, hopefully.

Yesterday, I took a _Mom’s Day Out_ with “Kim”:http://dkunruh.com/peanuts and “Mom”:http://livinglakeside.com and after a relaxed lunch, we initiated Kim into the world of the LYS. She purchased her first “sock yarn”:http://gallery.bcentral.com/GID4728469P3647600-Knitting/Knitting-Yarn/Lang-Yarn/Sock-Yarn-Jawoll-Sock-Yarn-Wool-83/Jawoll-Sock-Yarn-Wool-Mouline-830058.aspx and I purchased my first ball of “DebbieBliss Baby Cashmerino”:http://www.yarn.com/yarns-knitting/baby-cashmerino.html in “this lovely, girly color.”:http://www.yarn.com/art/yarn-knitting/baby-cashmerino-340609/dbliss-babycash-340007.jpg
I cast-on for a tinier hat, this time, for the precious babe – still doing the “seed stitch and cable baby hat”:http://purlywhites.typepad.com/purly_whites/2005/09/free_pattern.html by “Purly Whites.”:http://purlywhites.typepad.com/purly_whites/ I just reduced the number of repeats (by 2) and am otherwise following the pattern, except I am doing it on the magic-loop.

I also talked to “Dad”:http://chittenden.us last night. I made “a scarf”:http://www.flickr.com/photos/starzabove/75642527/ for his “girlfriend”:http://www.morningglorymel.com/ for Christmas, and apparently she loves it, used it yesterday, and it kept her quite warm on their Harley ride. So I told Dad how I wanted to make one for him, too, but wasn’t sure he’d like/wear/use a scarf – and he said by all means he would. So he has one on request – in blue – to match his truck with a Hemi, and his Harley. I’m not sure if I’ll do the same pattern as hers or pick another. Hers was a variation of the “Irish Hiking Scarf pattern.”:http://www.helloyarn.com/irishhikingcarf.htm The adventurer in me wants to try something new. I really like “this parallelogram pattern”:http://knitting.about.com/library/blparallelograms2.htm that “Frog Monkey”:http://2monkeys.blogspot.com/ is knitting for her cousin. I also found a “Mistake Rib scarf”:http://www.sandysknitting.com/archives/001071.html pattern in one of the library books I have out – I think it was the “Last Minute Knitted Gifts.”:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1584793678/002-7235790-3509643?v=glance&n=283155

Well, for now, Baby Kamryn’s hat is on the front burner, as I think of her, and her mommy, while I knit and throughout my day.
