Finally, a Baby Shower!

I have so many baby things I’d like to knit and I’m kind of bummed that there aren’t any local babies in my life. Well, I finally got an invitation to a baby shower! We have this little boy that we’ve sort of adopted into our family for the past several years (in fact, he’s been staying with us for a week now!) and his aunt is having her first baby in a month or so, and we were invited to her baby shower. The only bummer? It’s _NEXT WEEK!_ That doesn’t give me much time to knit, so I’ve had to search for something snazzy and fun, but on the quick-knit side. Here is what I’ve decided to try – “the Knitting Pure and Simple Baby Cardi.”:http://www.knittingpureandsimple.com/babycardi.html

“Debbie”:http://sternski.com/debbie had suggested “Knitting Pure and Simple”:http://www.knittingpureandsimple.com since she’s had great experience with their patterns. So at her suggestion I was browsing their site and came upon this super quick and easy but still cute little pattern. With very little time to spare, I went stash diving and came up for air with some “Caron’s Simply Soft in the color Sage.”:http://shopcaron.com/shop/cart.php?target=product&product_id=121 It’s not my favorite yarn – but it is VERY soft for acrylic and very practical from a washing standpoint for a first time mama.

So, as unimpressive as stockinette with garter border can be – here is the finished hood and beginning of the yoke increases:

And then there is the “Tour de Fleece.”:http://wabisabi.typepad.com/le_tour_de_fleece/ I’m afraid I’ve slipped off the bandwagon. This week has been all over the map, and I’ve not been able to _sit and spin_ (love that phrase) very much at all. I did manage 2 more oz. of spinning – the mystery wool in a sage green color. I spun 2 oz. of it the first week I had my spinning wheel and have never gotten back to spinning some more to ply with it – so I’ve done that at least. This stuff is STICK- Y! Still has quite a bit of lanolin in it. But I love the color.

So, for now, I’m headed back to spinning some more of the Finn. Smooth and easy. Since the Tour ends tomorrow, I have hopes of at least making half of my goal, as ambitious as that may sound, but I’m pretty good at crunch time, for some strange reason. So, we shall see tomorrow.

I had great fun earlier this evening. “Chris”:http://www.chrisknits.blog-city.com/ hosted an impromptu knitting get together at her house and it was such great company, and great food, too! Mom and I drove up and knit with Sherry, Lisa, Donna S., Janie and Chris. I’m so thankful to have such great friends to share a passion for knitting!
