flu season 2003-2004 – bleck

Well the good news is that most all of my family and close friends have passed through this years nasty bout of the flu, but the bad news is that my Grampie, 82yo, got it, even though he had his flu shot a month or two ago, and he’s in the hospital with complications from it.
It’s affected his heart mostly, turned into a bronchitis type thing, dh and I took him into the ER night before last, spent 4 hours in the waiting room, a couple of hours in an ER room (it’s not quite like a TV show in there, btw), having tests done, waiting some more, and then took an hour or two to get him settled and registered into a room in the telemetry ward. I’m really glad we took him in when we did, and he is much better off in there being well taken care of, but he doesn’t have much strength to fight such stuff. We just got the news he’ll be staying yet another night, the doc wants to run some more cardio tests in the morning.
I hope everyone else is faring well out there and taking care of themselves….
