A little bit of progress on koigu socks

I learn each time I rip out knitting. I have to remember that to ease the pain of ripping out my work. But I know it will be worth it when I get to finally wear these lovely socks.
So I ripped back to 56 stitches at the end of the toes, they had been 60 stitches, and I went from size 3 US needles down to size 2 US. I made it back to where I was, just a few rows into the straight part of the foot, and another inch or two. It was going slow at first but it’s picking up a bit, thank goodness. I’m starting to get excited about them again.

I didn’t get around to much other knitting this weekend, besides a few more rows on one of the sleeves of Niece #1′s shrug. She wants me to have it done by Friday, when we are scheduled to get together at the skating rink again with them. We shall see……… I guess I should put down the socks and concentrate on that, but I won’t pressure myself to do that for a couple of days. I do get so much more done when under pressure. I’m not so sure this is necessarily a good thing, but at least it is something I know about myself. For now I’ll just continue alternating between the two projects, to keep it interesting. I’m doing well at fighting off the urge to cast on yet another project, but I have set a minor goal for myself. I’m going to try and keep only 3 projects seriously going at a time, and have them be 3 different things. Like, for instance, I won’t let myself cast on for the shrug for my Dear Canadian Friend, until I finish the Niece’s shrugs. And I will cast on for another pair of socks after this one is done. And only one scarf at a time – so I will finish “Mom’s”:http://livinglakeside.com “Clapotis”:http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html before I cast on for another scarf. But what about a hat? or Mittens or gloves? Or, or, or – oh, well. It was a nice goal, but I suppose it does need some finessing.

In other news, we did go and see “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”:http://imdb.com/title/tt0363771/ on Saturday for eldest daughter’s birthday. It was a great movie. For once I think they did the book justice. It’s still not the same as a book, since you can’t replace the power of your own imagination, but I think they did very well considering.

Have you enjoyed any new movies at the theatre or on dvd you’d like to recommend?

  1. Yes, they did a great job with the book. I want to see it again. Thanks for the birthday wishes! It’s been even better today.
